About
kimmie
Born and raised in New Jersey, Kimberly Gipson has had a passion for dance since she was a young girl. After performing at casinos like the Borgata Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, her passion led her to audition for the Philadelphia 76ers Dance Team. Her first time around, she did not make the team. Disappointed but determined to try even harder, she went for it again. Not only did KiMMiE make the team, she continued on to become the first Philadelphia 76ers dancer ever to be selected for the 2007 NBA All Star Dance Team in Las Vegas. KiMMiE learned an important life lesson through this experience: never give up on your dream.
At the beginning of what would be her third season with the Philadelphia 76ers, KiMMiE decided to expand her horizons and headed south. Exploring new opportunities led her to a mass audition in Atlanta for Beyonce's I AM...World Tour. Up against almost 90 other girls, KiMMiE was so impressive, Beyonce hand-picked her to be one of the five dancers to back her up on a tour that spanned the globe, hitting every continent except Antarctica. As one of Beyonce's right hand dancers, she is currently on the Mrs. Carter World tour and back on loving every second of it.
KiMMiE feels so very fortunate for the dance opportunities that have been presented to her. She is very aware of her visibility as a successful dancer and understands the influence she holds as a role model. With this success comes great responsibility, which KiMMiE takes very seriously when choosing her dance projects. She works hard not to compromise the message she intends to convey in her career as a dancer. KiMMiE is a rarity in a business driven by less than positive images, and works hard to be part of the movement to empower women of all ages.
